Andy A. Takla, PE
Andy has been practicing structural engineering since 2012. What began as summer internships with a large nationwide engineering corporation during his undergraduate years developed into a lifelong vocation when he joined his father, Atef, to help start AA Takla Engineering, PLLC in 2014. Drawing from the foundation laid by his father’s decades of experience, Andy and his brother Fred later established Takla Engineering, PLLC.
Andy holds both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from North Carolina State University and earned his Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in 2020. He is also licensed in multiple states and maintains both a North Carolina General Contractor’s license and a Real Estate Broker’s license.
Today, Andy serves a broad range of clients including builders and contractors of all sizes, architects, designers, tradesmen, and real estate investors. His work focuses primarily on the structural design of new homes, additions and renovations, townhomes, and various hardscape and specialty structures. He continues to perform site visits, although at a reduced capacity, with time prioritized toward design work. As an investor himself, he understands the practical challenges of real estate projects and enjoys helping others bring their ideas to life in a thoughtful and cost-effective way.
Beyond his professional work, Andy serves as an Engineering Duty Officer Diver in the US Navy Reserve. Graduating from the Joint Dive Officer School (JDO) in 2024, he supports regional maintenance centers as a member of the Reserve dive units.
Andy lives in Durham with his wife and their four daughters. He is grateful to God for the many opportunities and blessings that have shaped his work and family life, and he remains committed to serving his clients and community with integrity and diligence.
